The Floppy Bun 2

This Hairdo starts out with a high pony tail.

Divide the ponytail in half top and bottom.

Put your whole hand around the divided pieces and let them hang over your hand. If you are right handed, this part should be done with your left hand.
Take your other hand and wrap it around your bun and pinch.
Pull your first hand out.
If you want the bun to be fuller then pull the bun up.
Put the new hair band around the bun and make sure that it is below the existing hair band.
Wrap once.
If your child has medium long hair, this may be the end. Go ahead and finish with the hair band until the last wrap.  Take the hanging hair and pull it around to cover the hair band.  do the last wrap to secure that last piece.  Jump down to the bun part.
If your child has long hair then continue on.  This is the hard part.
Place the pointer finger and thumb around the bun while holding the hair band.
Loop the remaining hair over the second finger and secure it with your third finger.

For really long hair, you may add one more loop.
Hold it with your pinky finger.
 Wrap with hair band.

There should be a piece left, about 4 inches. Pull that around to cover the hair band.

Then  wrap the hair band one last time.

Pull the bun out how you like it.  This is an important step.

There is usually one part that is sticking up, so pin that part in place, if you like.

If you want the whole bun to be more secure, feel free to add more bobby pins.
I personally like it left floppy just for a comfortable, fun daytime hairdo.

25 Second Bun and Piggy Buns

These hairdos were taught to me by my friend Jess.  She does this on herself and her girls.  Both hairdos include this 25 second bun.  If you don't get how to do it with the first description, look at the Piggies description and it will be more clear to you.
1. 25 Second Bun

Her daughter has straight, slick hair and it does not require wetting or spraying.   I am kind of jealous.
Brush hair and pull back into a low ponytail.

Wrap the ponytail until you get to the last wrap.

on the last wrap pinch the pony like you are about to pull through, but don't.

pinch fingers and plant against the head.
Twist hair to the right and wrap it around.
Because your fingers are tied up, just throw it over and re-twist.
Go until two or three inches of hair are left.  Slide that strand between your two fingers and pull through half way to hide the raw ends.
The hair band will show and needs to be scooted up and to the left with the hair band ending up  in the middle of the bun.

The hair band will show.

2.  Piggy Buns (Affectionately called Princess Leah)
Begin with a middle part all the way down.

Make the pigtail high.

When you get to the last wrap,
pull almost through.  Hold it here with your finger tips touching her head.
twist the pigtail and throw it over to the right.
Re-twist and keep wrapping it around.

When you get to the last 3 or 4 inches, put it between your fingers.
Pinch it.  Then pull it half way through.

Move the band to the left and up until it looks like this.
Repeat on the right.
Jess is ambidextrous, so you might want to do the right side with the same hand that you did the left.

The main thing is this last part.  Pull the last piece half way through.
Move the band up and left.
These piggies stay in really well.
